GET TAN IN A FEW MINUTES
How does it work?
First Tan Products are atomized on the face and body does not stain the clothes and leaves scent of sugar. The sunless tanning spray, absolutely new to the tan lovers, has the same effects as creams and sunbeds in the solarium, but it does not age the skin and gives it a tourist color to the Caribbean afterwards just a handful of seconds! If you’re new to spray tanning, chances are you’re curious about how tanners work and whether they can be harmful. While you don’t need to know all about the science that goes into sunless tanners, understanding the basics can put your mind at ease about safety and help you learn how to pick the best spray tanning products for your complexion. While individual formulas can vary dramatically in exact ingredient blends, all sunless tanning solutions have a couple of things in common. Regardless of the type of products you use, tanning agents work within the top layers of the skin and never come in contact with live cells. Your skin is made up of two main groups of skin layers called the epidermis and the dermis. In simple terms, the epidermis is your skin’s outer surface. It forms a barrier on top of the dermis to protect your body’s connective tissue, glands and blood vessels. The epidermis itself houses dead skin cells and has a scale-like, tough texture. When you use spray tanning products or any other sunless tanning solutions, you’re only affecting your skin’s epidermis. The tanning agent produces colour by interacting with the dead cells in your skin’s surface. One of the reasons exfoliating is important is because your skin can accumulate too many dead skin cells to get even coverage. Polishing it with an exfoliating cleanser creates a smooth surface that acts as a canvas for sunless tanning products. Over time, your skin renews cells and sheds old ones. Because a fake tan sits in your outer skin layers, it starts to fade when your body naturally sheds the dead skin cells it no longer needs. If you want to maintain your spray tan longer, adding colour back in as your skin loses it is key. For maximum colour protection, use a gradual tanning moisturiser every other day or refresh your colour every three days with a darker tanning lotion. Dihydroxyacetone, or DHA, is by far the most common tanning agent used in spray tanning products. DHA, a colourless sugar, is approved by the Australian Therapeutic Goods Administration and considered to be completely safe for use on top of the skin. It’s directly responsible for creating colour. Other ingredients that are used in tanning formulas are primarily added for skin nourishment and as tan optimisers. DHA and any other ingredients that are used in tanners don’t reach the bloodstream, which is why there aren’t any serious health risks associated with sunless tanning.
WHAT DO YOU NEED OR DO NOT DO AFTER TREATMENT ?
SKIN TIPS FOR BEFORE AND AFTER YOUR SPRAY TAN
- BEFORE YOUR TAN:
EXSFOLIATE: We can’t stress this one enough. Imagine your skin being a canvas for an artist, the more blank the canvas, the better the results! On the night prior to, or the morning of getting your sunless tan, always use a non-oil based exfoliant to properly even the skin’s surface.
STAY SMOOTH: Always shave or wax at least 24-48 hours before your session rather than the day of your session. Shaving/Waxing opens up the pores and they need to be closed for the tanning application. Shaving or waxing too close to your session can result in the “spotty” large pore look.
NO MAKE-UP OR LOTION: The day of your tan, avoid any lotions and make-up that may act as a barrier to prevent even application of your tan. You may apply a powder to your face 2-4 hours after your session but must avoid all liquids/lotions until after you shower.
- AFTER YOUR TAN:
NO SHOWERING OR ANY ACTIVITIES THAT MAKE YOUR SWEAT: No Showering or Any Activities That Make You Sweat! The longer you wait to shower after your session, the better. The color has the opportunity to deepen and get darker the longer you leave the solution on. We recommend waiting a minimum of 8-10 hours before showering.
NOTE: Overexposure to highly chlorinated water, such as hot tubs and swimming pools, is not recommended even after your tan has developed.
ONLY EXFOLIATE BEFORE YOUR SESSION: We recommend not exfoliating or using any abrasive cleansers in between sessions and up to 5-6 days following the session. A light non-abrasive moisturizing cleanser is suggested for keeping your skin hydrated and moisturized.
MOISTURIZE DAILY: After every shower, we recommend using an approved post-sunless moisturizer. Approved daily post-sunless moisturizers contain hints of the active ingredient DHA, which will prolong and protect the life of your sunless tan.
